Blogging Babes Featured Blogger | An Interview with Katie from Rolling On
1. What made you decide to start blogging?
I decided to start blogging after my mom passed away in July 2018. My fiance Nick and I were living with her at the time and were also in the middle of the search for an RV. I thought something like blogging would be a good way to write and get my feelings out about my mom while at the same time chronicling our RV adventures.
2. What do you blog about?
I blog about a couple of different things! I write about RV living and renovation, I share old family recipes, and I tell stories just inspired by things that are happening in my life. For example, I’ve written about my bouts of insomnia, how dreams can change througout your life, and grief.
3. What is it really like to live in an RV?
Living in an RV is a lot of fun! It is a different experience from what I have ever done before but it is a new adventure that I get to live out with my fiance. I feel lucky we get to do this at such a young age when most have to wait until retirement. But it is also a lot of work. there is pretty much always something that needs to be done or fixed no matter what.
4. What’s the hardest part about RV life?
The hardest part is the fact that something always needs to be done or fixed! Ha. Another hard part is the lack of space. It is definitely something you have to get used to. You never realize how much stuff you have accumulated over the years until you move into such a small space.
5. Are you planning on going anywhere extra special or cool?
Right now, we don’t have any plans to actually travel in our RV. We are staying stationary for the time being. We want to stay local at least until after our wedding in September.
6. What is your favorite food?
This is a hard one. I don’t know if I have one specific food that is my favorite. However, my favorite TYPES of food are southern food and breakfast food. I’m from Georgia so I have a deep appreciation for a classic, southern comfort meal. And breakfast food? Good any time of day. Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorite things to cook. Pancakes, turkey bacon, and a side of fruit. Perfect! Lately, it has been lemon ricotta pancakes which are so fluffy and delicious.
7. Who is your favorite band/artist?
My favorite musician is Bryce Avary AKA The Rocket Summer. I have been listening to him for over 10 years and seen him live 17 times. I have met countless friends through his music and concerts. His music means so much to me and has gotten me through a lot of rough times in my life.
8. What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
I don’t want to sound too cheesy, but my fiance. I never thought I would find someone that I connect with so deeply. He has been there alongside me through some of the biggest changes in my life including the worst one: my mother’s passing. He has seen me at my best and at my worst and has loved me through it all. I have definitely found my person and I can’t wait to marry him in September.
9. If you could be anything in the world, what would you be and why?
This is a tough one! I think for me, it would be an actress. More specifically, a musical theater actress. I LOVE musical theater. I enjoy going to see musicals but after every single time, I wish I would’ve gone after it when I was younger. I was in choir for about 7 years on ad off but I was never brave enough to branch out on my own and audition for anything. I have much a deep appreciation for every performer in this profession. It takes an immense amount of talent and dedication.
10. What’s one piece of blogging advice you’d give too someone just starting out?
Stick with it. It is scary, it is hard, you will most likely get frustrated and question everything ( I know I did) but it is worth it. You will connect with people in this amazing blogging community and be able to put your story out there. Write and continue to write. You never know who needs to read it.
