Ilia Beauty is known for their clean and organic makeup products that often include amazing skin-loving ingredients. They have social-share-worthy packaging and their products frequently become favorites for beauty lovers everywhere. One of their most-loved and popular products is this one.
The Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint is a light-to-medium-coverage tinted serum formulated with mineral SPF 40 and notable skincare ingredients. This award-winning tinted serum is available in 30 shades that range from fair to deep and come in neutral, cool, or warm undertones. Priced at $48, (for 1 FL OZ/30 mL), you can find the Super Serum Skin Tint at a number of beauty and department stores and online, (Sephora, Dermstore, Revolve), as well as directly on the Ilia website.
One of the coolest things about this serum is the broad spectrum SPF 40 protection it offers. It uses a non-nano zinc oxide, which safely provides UVA, UVB, and UVC protection. It also contains 3 stellar skincare ingredients! Hydrating hyaluronic acid that keeps skin looking and feeling soft, full, and moisturized. Niacinamide, which helps even tone and protects the skin’s barrier. Plus plant-based squalane to seal in moisture and keep skin looking healthy!

Application & Coverage
I have sensitive skin, that’s combo/oily, and I used to have horrible cystic acne. My skin is still breakout prone, but under much better control these days. I have pretty light skin, but I still have trouble finding my perfect match. Many lighter foundations either lean too warm or cool, leaving me with pink, yellow, or orange finishes. All of that being said, finding a “perfect foundation” is really hard.
I was able to find my perfect foundation match though with the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. The shade Diaz ST7, which is a light-medium with neutral undertones, is literally my skin tone in a bottle!
Application is really easy with this serum. You should always shake well before use. It comes with a dropper, and 1-2 drops is all you really need. I usually add the serum directly to my hands, starting with one drop, and rub it on my face with my fingers. If I want more coverage, I’ll go back and add another drop. I’ve tried brushes and sponges with it, but this foundation truly applies best with fingers, like a regular serum would.
On application the Super Serum Skin Tint looks lighter than your skin tone, with kind of a whitish tint to it. After about a minute it adjusts to it’s true color though, so no worries there. This lighter initial appearance is due to the non-nano zinc oxide that provides the SPF 40 protection.
The formula is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. It provides light-to-medium coverage, depending on how much you apply, but it can be built up a little. It also has a slight dewy finish that gives skin a radiant glow. I find that 1-2 drops gives the perfect, “no makeup” coverage. It helps even out skin tone and blurs imperfections, but your natural skin still gets to shine through, giving your pure beauty the spotlight.
Wear
I was honestly impressed by how well the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint wore throughout the day. I wasn’t expecting much since there’s less coverage, and the finish is dewy, but it has some serious staying power! It doesn’t oxidize on the skin, break apart, slide off, or cling to any dry patches. Instead, skin looks as good as it did when you first apply it. Which is seriously so cool. I also really love how hydrated and healthy my skin looks when I wear this. It almost looks as if nothing is on, just gorgeous, glowy, radiant skin!
I’ve used this skin tint with and without a setting powder. When using a setting powder with it, skin looks less dewy, but still has a soft glow to it. I do recommend a setting powder for anyone with oily skin. You can also just apply a setting powder to your oily spots, like your T-zone.
I’ve also found the Super Serum Skin Tint to wear well with other products. It applies really nicely on top of other skincare products. Applying other makeup products over it, like blush, highlighter, or bronzer, is also effortless.
And yes, it is mask proof too.
And What Are The Cons?
It’s really hard to find anything negative to say about the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. But no product is perfect, and there is one small downside to using this product.
The first thing I noticed was it kind of has a weird smell, but only when you first apply it. I’m not sure what the smell is, but it’s a very natural smelling scent. But don’t worry, it fades within 30 seconds, and you won’t smell it again while wearing it. And it’s definitely nothing bad enough to turn me away from using it!
Other than that, I can’t think of another bad thing about the Super Serum Skin Tint.
Why You Need It
It’s not often I find a product that actually delivers on it’s promises. The Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint gives you the most beautiful skin-like finish ever. It’s sheer, but has plenty of pigment, making it amazing at covering up imperfections but keeping you looking like you’re wearing nothing.
With really great ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and plant-based squalane, skin is kept looking healthy and moisturized. You also get the added benefit of SPF 40 sun protection, which is major. It lasts throughout the day, doesn’t oxidize on the skin, and stays as radiant as it does when you first apply it.
A number of shades, 30 to be exact, that vary by tone and undertone, makes it super easy to find your perfect true skin tone match.
All of this is what makes the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint such an amazing product. I don’t think there’s a single person I wouldn’t recommend this to! It’s become a staple and an essential in my everyday makeup routine, and I’m sure you’ll feel the same way about it too!
